RAD Cycle Products Ceiling Mount Bike Hoist - Bicycle HoistsReviewsThe product was exactly what I needed. Purchased three of the same to lift bikes out of the way. Better price then local stores. I have 12' ceilings in my garage and so these get the bike's completely out of the way. After measuring and finding stud's, I determined the best mounting would be to put a 1 x 4 against the ceiling sheet rock. This made it very easy to measure and attach the lift system to the board on the ground first, then I mounted the board the the ceiling. I'm guessing it took me about 30 minutes to do the first one and then about 15 minutes each for the others. The long cord worked out great for me, I didn't need to trim anything. The pulley system isn't a fast lifting system. I take my time lifting it up and down but it requires little effort. It's clean, easy to use and the right price. Well worth it. Product is just as described. Works great. Great price too. What's not to like. Pretty simple, actually. Pulleys, hooks and rope. Not much can go wrong. Beware, the RAD and Racor bike ceiling mounts have minor important differences. Previously I had purchased a Racor, and I thought I was buying the same bike mount when I bought the RAD. The main important difference is the hooks. The RAD's hooks are "L" shaped; they're not "J" shaped like those in the illustration advertising the product. The RAD's hooks are also rivited onto the pully assemble and the tension cannot be adjusted. The rubber coating on the RAD's hooks is also short; it only comes up about 1/2" after the turn. If you're looking for a bike mount, the Racor is also cheaply made, but it's certainly better than the RAD for only a couple of dollars more. This product was easy to install. I had it installed in about 15 minutes. Its easy to use. My eight year old raises and lowers his bike with ease. As fas as looks, its great because we don't even hardly notice it up at the ceiling. While the quality of the rope could be better, they give you plenty of it and the instructions were easy to follow and hang. Although if you want to mount the bikes so they run opposite of your ceiling joists you need to add a 2x4 across them to mount the brackets. It also helps to secure the bracket to the 2x4 before you hang it. Average Rating:![]() |

Kayak / Canoe Lift Hoist by RAD SportzReviewsThe product is good. The directions are not very good. The straps that go around the kayak are too long. We had to have them shortened. Unlesss you want it hanging about 5'6" above the floor with a 9' ceiling. They could easily remedy it by just sewing across the strap in a shorter point. This worked as advertised, took me about 2 hours to put up, I have 13 ft ceiling in my garage so had to do everything on a 10 ft ladder. Held my canoe great and was able to raise and lower it by myself. easy to install, works well. if only the straps were a little shorter so the kayak would not hang as low. it would also be nice if the straps had rubber on them to kept the kayak from slipping if when the ropes are not pulled together. D.A. Lapiska Seven Fields Pa.. This hoist does exactly what it is advertized to do. Installation took about 45 minutes. Its not something for a small person to use as it does take a minimum amount of strenght to lift and lower a kayak, but it does the job very nicely. I did have to shorten the straps that were provided as they left the kayak hanging a couple of feet from the ceiling. I did this by cutting it to the proper length gluing the strap to a piece of 1 inch iluminum pipe and then putting two rivets through the strap and pipe. No big deal. It was cheap but it is not effective for efficiently lifting my kayak. The kayak is well within the weight specifications listed but the furthest most hoist is virtually impossible to lift. Also, it doesn't have an independent locking mechanism for the two lines so you have to support the entire kayak and mess with the individual lines to try to get an even lift. Wish I had purchased a more substantial hoist, not worth the trouble to save a few bucks. Average Rating:![]() |

Utility, Bike And Dinghy Hoisters 4 Point Hoister 145# SystemReviewsI got one of these to hang a 12-foot long Butterfly scow in the garage, and it works well so far. I did wind up taking the whole rig down and reversing the way it was mounted, because for the block and tackle to do it's thing correctly and raise from floor to ceiling, you need pretty much the whole front to back length of the garage space on the ceiling for the block to traverse in. In my short one-point five-car garage, the downhaul winds up right at the garage door, and the anchor at the back wall, so my garage door needs to be down to raise or lower the boat. You will need to buy or find some 2x4 boards (not included) to anchor the unit with, or be sure you can locate real rafter frames for the 4 mounting points, but on the whole, this was easy for a butterfingers to install; the included knot-tying directions were very helpful too. For oddly-shaped or tapered things like boat hulls, you might want to add two adjustable straps with hooks to keep the front and back lines on each side from slowly rolling or sliding off/apart over time. This unit works well and is really a neat system. This is a great product, well made and pretty easy to install. If you need to store a roof box, canopy, canoe or something large & bulky, this is what you need (I'm storing a roof tent - think massive roof box). Getting the correct length on the ropes takes a bit of time, just be patient. And if you have ceiling lights in your garage, locate the hoist in a way that doesn't obscure the light (unless you want a darker garage) when it's raised. excellent materials. No problem putting it up. Just took a while to really read and look at the instructions to get the lines and knots straight. I would buy it again. Average Rating:![]() |
